Kudos to A-net. And getting people annoyed? I'd say secretly A-net loves mesmers.

No, a faulty router at a Frankfurt datacenter that completely destroyed play for half a continent, from a few weeks before until a few weeks after the original event.

Personally I love this. I was on vacation in Alaska and didn't want to lug my laptop around the airports and now I get a second chance for Dragon Arena and a Demon Mask.

Nooooooo!
The last Dragon Festival I travelled forward in time to this day.
And now the next Dragon Festival I have to travel back in time to this day to undo what I did the first time.
I could undo it now, but then I wouldn't have the time to post this.
The above could make sense. You don't know!

A.net, please use last Wintersday's drop system at the end. Unclaimed Gift Drops was a pure hell of flaming, greed and overall disgusting behavior. Have them reserved this time around, please?

I thought as much. I know how exhausting it is, to copy a line of code from one file to another.

The none sarcastic version is 2 posts above mine.

I agree. You people are seeing demons and doom where there are none.

I couldnt attend the festival myself either so this is great news for me

At least I might be able to play some Dragon arena at a reliable ping.

If the anti-whining brigade (who have brought far more negative posts to this thread than anyone else) bothered to read the first page, they'd notice that only a couple of posts were offensively critical. Most were actually confused as to why the event was being re-run and given that the article on GW.com offers no real explanation of that point, it's hardly surprising! After an explanation was posted - what did we get? 4 pages of whining about the alleged whiners.

Pot kettle black.

Yes it feels like it just ended... 'Cause of the enduring lag!

If they think re-running it will help people who had latency issues before, why wouldn't they have the same problem??

There'll be as many gift-leechers running around as before; not to mention the Rings-AFK'ers.

I've never been very critical of Anet until now; ever since Lag'on Festival, I've been unable to play with any decent performance. Instead of bringing back what aggravated the whole latency problem, I reckon they should pull a finger out and keep trying to pinpoint the residual latency.

As a note; since I began playing (Sept. 2005) I've NEVER - repeat NEVER - had performance issues as aggravating as this. This is no fault on my end, as I've upgraded my system and connection since that time.

It just seems wrong....
Hmmmm.....

Gaile Gray and others here summed it up. If you are too dense or selfish to get it, go farm that weekend. Everyone else will do what you should do when playing a game....HAVE FUN!

I will carpool sooner or later, but collecting tokens and trading for cheap holiday gifts helps people with titles. Or maybe spend the cash to AFK all weekend.

It was a router somewhere in europe which connected half the european playerbase with anet that was causing it. It's fixed now. It wasn't anet's servers that were at fault. Personally me and my friends got 200-250ms ping during the entire event.

they already stated that there were two differently coded drop systems and that it was not simply a small code change

i will give you the benefit of the doubt that you missed that information instead of calling you an idiot
